This is a book to identify the most common trees in Pennsylvania. Each entry covers the leaves, twigs and fruit along with illustrations of each. There is also general information for each tree: for example, color, size, wood use. The trees are grouped by type with an alphabetical index in the back of the book. There is also a glossary of unfamiliar terms.

Although the leaves are pictured in black and white drawings, it is easy to match a leaf with the type of tree. Acorns and pine cones can also be identified.
