Olive Percival (1869–1945)

I read the entire little book in just a couple of well spent hours. Mexico City is one of my favorite places to visit and I was glad to see her visit Lagunilla or Thieves Market among the first places of interest to her because we, too, go there every trip and always buy treasures to bring home. We also love the flowers as she did but haven't fallen in love with tasting all the sweets as she did. It was a fast, fun read. One of the tongue in cheek things she wrote was about a luncheon she attended where the main cook was absent and a failed lunch feared; she said, "so the luncheon we had that day was of necessity extremely simple. There were really but 8 courses and we sat at table hardly an hour and a half." I enjoyed the book so much I re-read it a year or more later and prior to a trip to DF in August 2016.… (mehr)
