13% in and I still haven't gotten to any story, nor do I care enough about anyone to continue. NOTHING has happened yet.

I received this book as part of the Early Reviewers Group. The book wasn't terrible, but it lacked some clarity. I was mildly confused throughout the book due to a lack of details and context about the world I was reading about. The issues and plot of the book are interesting, if a bit underdeveloped. The writing style and pace of the story keeps the reader interested.

I received a free copy of this book for an honest review.

I found this book to be OK. The story starts off stilted like it's missing the first few pages, and then goes at a rather slow pace. None of the characters were fleshed out and i didn't care what happened to them. The entire reason these men are committing Heresy is because one of them won't talk to his wife, and they don't communicate. It's hard to feel sympathetic for Soames for going along with such a dangerous plan for such a dumb reason. Overall i found that nothing was really filled out to be believable, though the twist at the end was interesting and unexpected.… (mehr)

I got this book as part of the Early Reviewers Group and it was a real struggle to get through. The beginning, especially, was overwritten and had poor pacing. "His dark curls twitched in the lamplight, the flickering light changing the tangles into a dark halo." Mmkay, great. But an entire book full of that? It seemed to get better as the book went on, or perhaps I just got used to it. I thought the plot was very slow to start off with and I had trouble caring about the characters' problems because I didn't like them. Maybe the author should have started off with something a bit more sympathetic than grave robbing?

By the end, I was interested in what happened to the characters though and the plot seemed to pick up. If this book consisted only of the second half of the novel, it would be a much better read.
