This book describes how oil spills happen and what the effects of them are. One of the stories described in the book is about a sea turtle who is extremely affected from the oil spill. There are multiple pictures of people brushing off the turtle's shell and other animals who get hurt from the oil spill. The back of the book has a glossary so that students can look when they have questions about a word while reading.

Possible science topics: environment conservation½

This is a book about Prision and people claming that its "haunted." According to legend, this prison is filled with spirits. The prision was escape proof. Many people there were killed with intresting stories. One prisioner got stabbed with scissors and was seen playing a banjo after that. People claim to see ghosts in the cells and in the halls. No one knows if anyone escape. Two men tried too but they some how drowned and their bodies were never found. In 1972 Alcatraz became part of a national park. Rangers say they hear footsteps, sobs, screams, and etc. Rangers say they have a feeling of being watched. A Ghost Hunter ( Richard ) claims seeing a ghost on that isnald.

This book was very intresting. I would like to learn more about this island. I love these types of book and I enjoyed this a lot. I would recommened this book to people who love ghost stories. I wish this book had more facts and more evidence. The author should make an another book with more details on this subject. Loved this book five out of five.

Review: This book was an informational book about environmental disasters, particularly about oil spills and how they affect many different species that live in the wild. The book also discussed the many ways to help the environment as well as the impacts that oil spills have overall on the environment long-term. It was a very good informational book.

This would be a great book to teach about nonfiction. It includes a Table of Contents, Index, Glossary, Bibliography, and other events of Oil Spills. I think that this book was fascinating for myself because I never really knew much about oil spills. This book goes into why oil spills kill different marine animals, and why it is so necessary to act quickly. It also talks about how to clean up the animals and just how intensive it is.I think this booke could work for late second grade through early fourth graders.

This book is about a haunted prison in Alcatraz.
The ghost still hang out to this day.
The prison scared the biggest criminals.
The mysterious death in the prison.
Though, the guards think it's not a ghost.

I give this book 5 stars.
The book caught my eye since ghost are interesting for me.
Scary facts in a haunted prison.
But i wouldn't read this book again.
That's my opinion on the book.

This book is about the plague where it all start to where it all ends.
There was a boy who found a dead rat in the basement and threw it away.
But the next day, he felt sick and 2 days later he's dead.
It's spreads to the city's, the country, and the world.
Oh, what happens next?

To be honest, this book is disgusting but was intriguing at the same time.
It talks about how the plague started and ended.
And how it effected with people's lives.
I give this book 3 out of 5 stars.
And that's what i think if this book.

Summary:
This book gave information on different hurricanes and how people were able to save different animals after each one. There were many pictures that showed just how much danger the animals were in due to their owners leaving them behind. It also had happy stories of animals that were reunited with their owners or found new and loving homes after being rescued.

Personal Reflection:
As an animal lover, I enjoyed reading the book and seeing the animals getting help. It was nice to know that there are other people out there that care for animals and didn't want to just leave them to starve to death or drown.

Classroom Extensions:
Have students make a list of what their pet would need in case of an emergency. Have them pack an emergency bag for their pet with these supplies.

Have them do the same thing for themselves.

This is a good example of an informational book because all the information in here is true. It also contains some biography material because it is telling the stories of how certain people helped with various oil spills, by giving their names and saying what they did. I like this book because it is a great way to tell kids what happened but on a level they can understand, through telling about saving the animals, and it also gives great animal care information. Media is photos

This book was a nonfiction book about rescuing animals from natural diasters like hurricanes. There is a series about saving animals from hurricanes, volcanoes, fires, etc. The book had real life stories, (mainly about Katrina and New Orleans), about saving animals in times of need. This was not only about cats and dogs, which was a pleasant suprise. There were horses, squirels, fish, dolphins, cows, chickens, mules, penguins, alligators, otters, sea lions, etc. This is a good book for kids of any age, but it can be read by intermidate readers and above alone. Younger kids would need some help to learn of the inspiraring stories. I would recommend this to someone who cares for animals, may be connected to hurricanes, or is just interested in a new subject that isn't usually discussed. There are heartbreaking pictures on almost every page. All the pictures are photographs of animals and helpful people. This book's "big idea" was to show that hurricanes and disasters effect more than just humans.

15,000 animals were rescued after Hurricane Katrina, from dogs and cats to horses and even dolphins. Full color photos accompany poignant stories in this book that will fit the bill for many young animal lovers.
