As the title implies, the book is a survey of topics of interest to the non-Muslim: (from the table of contents): "Islam Is a Diverse and Complex Faith"; "Islam Is a Religion of Orthopraxy" (practice); "Muslims Respect Judaism and Christianity"; "There Is No Institutional Hierarchy in Islam"; "There Is No Clear Separation between Religion and Politics in Islam"; and "Jihad Does Not Only Mean 'Holy War'" . The books enlightens the non-Musilim of the religion's core beliefs and its relation to Judaism and Christianity. Though informative, it is rather dryly written. Perhaps that is a positive when the religion otherwise stirs up passions at every terrorist incident. But I wish I felt more engaged with the writing.
