Talent Development for English Language Learners comprises a collection of articles on the education of non-English speaking students. Many times the assumption is made, consciously or unconsciously, that non-native English speakers are disadvantaged students with learning problems.. This ignores the reality of immigration in the USA today. Many non-English speaking students are gifted and highly-motivated. The main question seems to be whether these students should study academic subjects in their native tongue (while learning English) or whether they should concentrate on mastering English first.
