I received a copy of the ebook from the author in return for an honest review.
I am in two minds about this book. I really enjoyed the story, the plot was good and the characters were interesting and nicely developed through the book. The thing that lets this book down is the writing itself. Really all it needs is a good look over by an editor to straighten out errors. This meant I couldn't enjoy the book fully as the mistakes kept catching my eye. There were problems with missing commas and other forms of punctuation, and a couple of times when it appeared the author got confused between characters as the names kept changing.
Apart from the errors, I quite enjoyed the story. I definitely think this is a middle grade book, as the language and ideas in the novel would definitely appeal to readers of that age.
I also thought the action scenes were nicely done, with good description of what the characters were doing. The quantity of action through out the whole book was good, the story moved quickly, meaning the plot kept my interest.
The main character, Jimmy, was a good main character, he was brave and sensible, but there is definitely some underlying traits in Jimmy that we haven't really been introduced to yet.
Overall I liked this book, and I am interested in seeing where the author takes the story in the next book. In my opinion this book was good, but with a little tweaking of the writing, it could definitely be great.… (mehr)
