That was a great! Every time I thought I knew what was going on it twisted on me. It reminded me a bit of early TMZ, I would highly recommend this to anyone looking for a tough gritty comic that takes your expectations and raises the bar.

"Black" was fairly bland and forgettable, but the "CALEXIT" story has me intrigued.

Rapey, shocky, violent, edgy comic for jerbangs. For the first half, the artist avoids drawing hands, and the effect is ridiculous. Collage style was kind of cool, like liner notes of a Spineshank album kind of way. Nu-metal comic, but completely humorless. Maybe it gets better? I won't bother finding out.½

This is a cool story about resistance and choices. The near-future dystopia setting is suitably chilling. Emmie is a great character!

A good conclusion to Act 1. I feel like we understand what Zora's deal is now, and her anti-fascist ethos. I really like Jamil as an audience stand-in character! Definitely rooting for the two of them.½

I like that this fleshes out the worldbuilding a bit more, while continuing some important character arcs. Feels very much like a "middle" of all stories involved. I like that they run the various essays and interviews in the end matter.

This is a powerful beginning to a new series. I liked the assortment of characters introduced, with all their moral murkiness, and I liked the effective use of geography.½

Good story with thorough world-building. The antagonist, Father Rossi, is a bit too over the top to be believable

Plot: The daughter of a powerful global businessman is accused of terrorism after her father’s assassination and placed in a secret detainment camp. She breaks out and starts fighting the system her father helped create. She also has lots of help, people that see things the way she does, people that want to tear down the system of the mega-rich and government insiders. It's all a conspiracy anyway, right?

This volume is a single issue, the length of a graphic novella, if you will. It is full of information about the three main families that control everything, but that wasn’t used in this volume. I presume it will be vital knowledge in future issues.

The artwork is intense, and doesn’t hold anything back; it definitely fits the scope of the storyline.

It is interesting, somewhat confusing, and I like where it is heading. I’ll be looking for future issues from Black Mask Comics.

Futuristic tale of a fighter seeking revenge

This comic tells of Sera, brought up to fight after she is removed from society by elite clans in the US. She establishes herself as a successful fighter and pots her revenger against whoever killed her father and took her brother.

The comic is well-illustrated and engaging but not totally clear (deliberately, I’m sure) at this stage. Issue #2 will perhaps help to explain a lot. Interesting and I look forward to part two.
