Full disclosure: I only picked up this book from my library because the author is my co-worker. I don't keep kosher and more importantly, I don't own a slow cooker. So I couldn't actually try out any of the recipes in this book, but there are certainly a number I wish I could. (I switched over to her blog with recipes for all types of cooking and baking instead for ones I can actually make.)
The book begins with an introduction on keeping kosher and then provides a number of recipes from "soup to nuts" as the saying goes. Recipes run the gamut from honeyed chicken wings to refried beans to lamb ragu to palak paneer to bananas foster and peach melba. A number of the recipes included are vegetarian, which is nice for those of us who don't eat meat much (or at all). The final two chapters focus on foods for Passover and other holidays. A spread in the middle of the book contains full-color photographs for a handful of the recipes included in the book. The book concludes with kosher substitutes and other useful resources.… (mehr)
