Unlikely story of First World War derring-do starring Michael York as Geoffrey Richter-Douglas, a half Scottish / half German officer in the British Army. with his background he's assigned as an allied agent in Germany and finds himself on board the maiden voyage of a prototype Zeppelin that has been tasked to participate in a secret mission that may end the war in Germany's favour. "Zeppelin" is a serviceable and reasonably enjoyable film. Some of the plotting is a touch dubious - the idea that the British would give up simply because the Magna Carta was destroyed is fanciful at best. Similarly, the idea of Michael York's potentially divided loyalties isn't as developed as it could be. The airship itself looks great and some of the aerial photography is quite impressive. The film also has a great supporting cast: Elke Sommer is beautiful as a quasi-love interest for Michael York; Marius Goring moralistic as the designer of the airship; Andrew Keir strong and brave as the airship captain, plus Anton Diffring and Peter Carsten in slightly villainous, but ultimately heroic roles. "Zeppelin" is a decent and enjoyable adventure film - despite a strange plot and some loose ends left dangling.… (mehr)
