This is the story of NBC Today correspondent Jill Rappaport and her dog Jack. Jack was diagnosed with bone cancer, had surgery to remove a leg and recovered nicely. It is a sweet story and it is touching but not as much as I expected. The illustrations are photographs of Jack and add much to the book. The photographer did an excellent job. The story is told from “Jack’s” point of view which adds to the story as well. I think children will like that. The part that I did not like is that the book ends saying that Jack is still playing and living it up but if you read the acknowledgements at the end, it is obvious that Jack has since passed away. I can see using this with a child who has a dog that is sick but other than that I cannot see a big audience for this book.… (mehr)
