This book is well designed and well executed. The meticulous work is let down by sloppy proof reading in the copy I received (LibraryThing Member GiveAway). The characters and plot unfold in a measured way -sometimes causing the pace to flag but contributing positively to the integrity of the book.

Only at the end did I found out this book is part of a much bigger series, however, I do believe it is possible to read it as a stand alone. The author gives some little back story, that will make sense for some actions for some of the main characters.
The story is very compeling and full of detail but I felt a bit flat on the mistery. It's true that it was a surprise to know the candidate choosen and who is the evil mind, but for the rest of the enviornement and what is about to be done is told so soon that at the climax point is not a climax anymore.
A problem I had was with the sudden change of POV. Multiple times I had to go back two or three lines to see where it changed, maybe that was just a problem with the copy I have.
In conclution I liked the story in itself and the idea and I would recommend it to someone who is interested in starting to read misterys… (mehr)
