This is exactly the kind of book about fashion that should be published more often. Sure, biographies, retrospectives, exhibition catalogues, and overall histories are great, but capturing a single fashion show through photographs and memories of the people who were there is a wonderful way of representing specific moments in fashion history. This technique works particularly well for Lee (Alexander) McQueen's 1996 show Dante, since it was clearly a turning point in his career and was realized as such by the people who were there at the time. The magic of the energy backstage is captured through candid photos (not a normal occurance at the time, but expected now) and through the reminiscences of the models, stage designers, and various people who contributed to the stunning success of this theatrical runway show. My only complaint is that I wish that there had been even more content to this book, as it it doesn't catalogue the entire collection and doesn't contain much in the way of candid photos besides backstage!
