Book Title: Thank You, Richa
Author: Rima Sen
Format: Kindle

Book Title:
The title of the book ‘ Thank You, Richa ‘ is nostalgic and warm.

Book Cover:
The cover image of the book is an image of a woman carrying a piece of trolley luggage, posing as an airline crew person, a cricketer and with South Indian Temples in the background. The image does tell a story, but what exactly is it can be found only after reading it.

Plot:
The story starts with Kadhir, the male protagonist from the town of Mahabalipuram, who is a successful cricketer and now is living in riches with his family. One day he happens to receive a Whatsapp message from Richa. She was his friend? Classmate? Girlfriend?; the exclamations arise because of his excitement after reading her message. He dives into his past, and thus the story is narrated through his memories.

A giant wheel of emotions that turn back into life for about 18years ago, happens to be the storyline.

It is a story of lost love.
It is a story of unrequited love.
It is a story of success in cherishing a dream.
It is a story of nostalgia.

What I like:

1. The words, the sentences and the paragraphs all depict nostalgia and first love.
2. The grading of love, romance, nostalgia, responsibility, humility and humanity is well illustrated
3. Impressive time travelling in the story
4. Tear dropping sequences during lost love narration.
5. Long-lasting feelings from an unrequited love are well shown.

What I didn’t like:
The story is a typical love story which is relatable to everyone. Serious readers may not be pleased with the story, but somewhere every reader will identify themselves.

Characters:
The conversations, actions and emotions that happen in every page are so perfect that every reader will unknowingly become a character in the story or a friend of Kadhir.

Narration:
This is one of the reasons why I am always ‘ FOR ‘ Indian Writing. The tale-telling directly sits into my mind, and the reading becomes heartening. With the places known, I liked the narration. The story is written in the first person. The readers travel into Kadhir’s past from his eyes. At times in the story, the reader can imagine himselfherself standing alongside Kadhir.

In this story, Rima has shown her prowess as one of the nice storytellers. Though at some places, the story drags towards a drama driven style, which is also entirely predictable, these glitches can be ignored in front of the strong narrative skills.

Language & Grammar:
Simple and straightforward language with useful vocabulary is found in the story.

My Final Verdict:
A perfect story of nostalgia and unrequited love!
