REVIEW MAY CONTAIN SPOILERS
Summary:

This is a good primer on Mexican government telecommunications history from the 1920s through the 1950s focused largely on the where and the who, the governmental regulation, and propaganda.

Why this book:
Picked this because I wanted to read about the border blaster stations, Wolfman Jack, et al, and this book specifically ignores them in most instances, excepting as a nuisance to stations whose frequencies were too close to the blaster stations.

Hmm Moments:
The graft and corruption of any 1920s-era story of an industry that's regulated but only when someone is looking. That's internationally true.

Juxtaposition:
The Mexican government making stations broadcast an hour-long program from the federal authorities full of propaganda and indoctrination with the goal of reminding those abroad that home is still here. It also makes me think that it's telling the emigres/refugees that there is no escape. You’re free…Home is still here for you…Home is where you belong…You can’t escape.

Soundtrack:
I'm on a Mexican Radio - Wall of Voodoo
I Heard It on the X - ZZ Top

Meh. Not really what I wanted, but was interesting to a history nerd.
