The Search for Extraterrestrials: Intercepting Alien… von Monte Ross
A good little treatment of the astrobiological theory of SETI as well as its methodological practice. The main hobbyhorse of the author, who exudes a lot of technical expertise, is that searches should concentrate not on the radio-wave part of the electromagnetic spectrum but on the infrared/visible/ultraviolet part. He thinks ETIs could be transmitting nanosecond laser bursts, with pulse interval modulation.
