Set deep in the hills of West Virginia in a fictitious town called Mole Creek. The story revolves around a man named Theodore Wixson. As a child Theo was in a tragic house fire that took the lives of his father and 2 siblings and left him horribly disfigured. After his momma's death years later, Theo kept to himself, never leaving his house unless he needed something from town. Theo was known as "the boogie man" by all in the community, but all he really ever wanted was to just be normal and fit in. No one wanted anything to do with him until one day when little Molly Longely came knocking at his door to sell ornaments for school. That day when Molly had the courage to give him a chance was the best day of his life. For the first time in his life he was actually enjoying being alive...Theo thought that maybe things were starting to change and they did. Only not for the good. That day started a downhill spiral that would change the town forever!!
Written in Appalachian dialect, the lanuage makes it more original and adds drama. It was a fairly short read but stuffed with action and suspense flowing rather smoothly throughout. My only complaint was that i didnt want it to end. With an unusual narrator and realistic story, "OWL" is a definite must read!!
