Lucid: A Collection of Experimental Flash Fiction von Bill Schachter
Diese Rezension wurde für LibraryThing Member Giveaways geschrieben.
"Lucid" is the perfect title for this collection of flash fiction. The imagery the authors used , and the originality of some of these stories formed vivid pictures in my mind. I especially enjoyed the first story; the editors did a good job with deciding to use it as the opener. The only criticism I have is that there were several mistakes with punctuation and missing words.

“Lucid” is a collection of flash fiction that presents to the reader a wide array of emotions and insights. From the light touch of “Memoir of a newspaper” which looks at a day in a family’s life through the eyes of their daily newspaper to “The visitor” which explores the effect on the whole of nature from the suicide of a lone person this reader was both entertained and disturbed by the themes expressed by the many writers in this collection.
The introduction of the supernatural in the piece titled ”Always “ is a new take on the theme of souls transferred into objects such as “Chucky” except that in this case the soul has a benevolent effect.
“Hands” explores the aftereffect of betrayal by looking at the later life of the temptress Delilah from the biblical tale of Samson and Delilah.
The entire collection consists of 21 pieces of flash fiction. I found most of the stories interesting and sometimes provocative. There are a few that were not well written and or incomprehensible (at least to me), however they do not affect the overall quality of the collection. On the whole I feel that a reader will find this group of flash fiction to be a good read.… (mehr)

This was a combination of very short stories, some only a page long. It's not a long read and it's not usually a meaningful one, but some of the stories in this collection were thought provoking or poetic or contain interesting or creative concepts. Most of what I read I had to read a few times to try and get the meaning of the words, but there were some stories, that I honestly enjoyed.
For those who don't know, these stories are creative and defy explanation. This is the kind of fiction that gives life to newspapers or has a doll possessed by a late family member or turns the sun into a living, talking being. Each story is unique and each is worth a read in its own way.
Note: Though this book was a free gift from the author, the content of my review was in no way influenced by the gifting. The book speaks for itself and my review would have been worded just this way even if I'd gone out and bought it. I also give bonus points for Text To Speech enabling on Kindle format.... but that also wasn't a factor in the above review.… (mehr)
