I would read these aloud vs handing them over, sometimes the moral is spelled out sometimes not.

I have no idea how this Indian folktale ended up in my grandmother's house in Appalachia, but I remembered it fondly and was pleased to find it again. Wonderful illustrations. A bit too boring for my girls at first, but they were intrigued enough to get into the meat of it.

Written with the Partition of India as the temporal setting, Shiv K Kumar's Train to Delhi is a part romance part historical novel. The easy flowing words can make the reader visualize the India of 1947. The book depicts both - the face of hateful brutal plunders that can shake the core of human survival, and the face of love that provides the reason to survive.
