Textbook for my Latin American History class. I learned quite a bit from reading this book, it makes me wish I had bought it instead of renting it. If you are interested in a great overview of the various Latin American countries and their history I highly suggest this book.

This is a good basic introduction to US-Latin American relations. It shows how the relationship of the coloso del norte and the rest of the hemisphere defines the relationship between Latin America and the rest of the world and of the countries of Latin America with each other. This is a fundamental text for understanding how the region relates to its hegemon.
