This book provides informational and educational facts about penguins in a very simple and understandable way. The sentences are short, making it easy for young readers to comprehend. Penguins is a good book to introduce to your class when teaching a lesson about different types of birds, especially ones that can't fly.

the book is small enough to fit in the small hands of the younger ones. It begins with some simplistic facts about the anatomy of whales. Accompanied with pictures, the text is small to attract young audiences

The photographs in this book were amazing. This book gives great insight on what penguins are and about what they can and can't do. This type of book is best used when the kids can't go to the zoo, therefore, allowing the teacher to bring the zoo to them.

This book provided a general overview of the life of penguins. This book would be good for younger students first being introduced to science and geography. Overall a good book with nice photos of actual penguins. The ending could be better as I feel it just cuts off the book with no wrap up.

Most nonfiction books I came across, when looking for a book to read to first graders, were way to advanced. The vocabulary was difficult, there were multiple images for the same sentence, and were down right confusing, even for me. However, this book is not. I personally like the way that this book about penguins offers one sentence that is to the point and providing a full page picture. The first grade class I read to absolutely loved it! My only wish is that it addressed different types of penguins instead of only one.½

This book was extremely simple, like so simple that I could probably read it to my 2 and a half year olds. It includes very simple facts about the life of a penguin accompanied by some nice photographs. It could be used to introduce nonfiction books to children, as well as the facts about this funny, flightless little bird.½

This book is a about the penguin’s life. This books also introduces where this animal live, and how many eggs they mate once year. Their parents take care of the eggs and the chicks.
