'Spanker's Delight' is one of the large number of photo-illustrated paperbacks issued to service the erotic chastisement genre that began early in the 1970s; this one published by Ben's Books and authored by David Spencer. Spencer is one of more literate writers in this end of the genre, and he tells us that his short stories are based on reliable testimony. As with most examples, the text is complemented by monochrome photographs, 86 of them, from a single session in which a man spanks a young lady. The images have a humorous air to them, and are of a better that usual quality, as is the (unrelated) text, which comprises several lengthy stories as well as a lot of anecdotal evidence about the prevalence of the practice. Spencer even muses on the reliability of much of the so-called evidence presented in similar publications. Certainly much better as a book than the usual.… (mehr)

Ben's Books was one of the better publishers of photo-illustrated erotica in the early 1970s, concentrating on the spanking genre. This example has a set of stories that is reasonable, although a bit anaemic, similar in style to edited versions of 'readers' letters'. The final story, about a wayward young girl, is not only meandering, but ends abruptly. The collection of monochrome photographs does not relate to any of the stories, and is itself rather anaemic, perhaps reflecting the timidity that was prevalent at its 1972 date.
