There are a number of excellent books on the subject of revival including "Revival" (by Lloyd-Jones), "Pentecost-Today?" (by Iain Murray) and "Revival and Revivalism" (also by Murray). Yet, of the books I have read on the subject none is more important than this one. This is a deeply practical book, which is both refreshingly honest and solidly grounded in truth. There are number of important points and lessons contained in this book that have been forgotten by the Church. Two, in particular, stand out. First, the need for reproof. Pastors and Christians must not shy away from their duty toward fellow believers who living in sin and drifting in apathy. Second, the importance of reverence. Here is a concept almost foreign to the Evangelical churches, and yet without it can we expect the revival we seek? I doubt it. This book is a must read.
