- Kurzbiographie
- Alexander Schenk von Stauffenberg and his twin brother Berthold were born to a distinguished aristocratic Catholic German family. He studied ancient history at the universities of Heidelberg, Jena, Munich, and Halle, where he received a Ph.D. in 1928. He became a history professor and served in the German Army in World War II. His younger brother Claus von Stauffenberg helped lead the 20 July Plot to kill and overthrow Hitler in 1944, in which Berthold also participated. Following the failure of the coup, his brothers were executed. Alexander survived and became a professor of ancient history at the University of Munich after the war.
