As you can probably guess from the title, this is a very weird book. It's set in a future world, where giant, sentient praying mantises have wiped out humanity and are living in our homes and working our jobs. Only, they're still viscous, cannibalistic predators. The book is about Matthew, a high school history teacher, whose wife is is an activist fighting for reproductive rights, which would allow male mantises to keep their heads after mating. One night, she betrays Matthew and attempts to bite his head off, but he survives and soon discovers a chainsaw possessed by the spirit of a human serial killer. Then he's out for revenge, and things get even weirder.

This is definitely not a book for everybody. It's gory, weird, violent, and full of praying mantis sex scenes. Even so, I really enjoyed it.… (mehr)
