Rezensionen

Well, this was a wild ride.

Art wise, everything said for volume 1 applies here.

Story wise, oh man. Everything opens with murderous Orchestra, killer duo (previously an assassination team) that aims for Koko while she is enjoying her day in Dubai. Fighting, car chases and very interesting approaches to protection (driving a car near sidewalk in order to protect Koko on a run from incoming heavily attackers), you name it you got it. Only thing that got me a little bit puzzled was city square fight - where did all those ballistic shields come from? I take it from blown up police car but what flew off it looked more like a door than a ballistic shield ..... right? Heh, could be me :)

Ending of this story cycle was a little bit .... well traditional manga what can I say :) part kinky, part weird.

Second part of the book starts a promising arc, when Koko's brother and Jonah cross paths. There is definitely something brewing here and I cannot wait to see what exactly :)

Recommended to fans of action, adventure and thriller stories.

I came across the Jormungand as anime first and I truly liked it. Aside the rather crazy Koko :) topic is very mature and very well presented. It reminds me very much of Black Lagoon, although Golgo13 still remains THE action adventure that is very much grounded in reality.

Story wise we follow child soldier Jonah, from somewhere in Central Asia (I hope I got it right) who ends up as a soldier for [rather craaaazy] weapons merchant Koko Hekmatyar, daughter of an owner of renowned logistic company. She is not working anything [too overtly] illegal - she sells weapons to the highest bidder and by the looks of it she does it by the book, but arms sales being arms sales there will always be competitors willing to bury Koko and team and take over the market.

In volume 1 accent is on Eastern Europe, country where local commanders and politicians try to affect Koko's business but unfortunately they do not know who they are messing with.

Art is great, dynamics of firefights, car chases and smuggling up and down the steppe are beautifully presented. At moments art does need some more ..... lighting I guess but overall everything is very well drawn. Characters are of the pointy manga sort (definitely not lanky like some, but very pointy faces) but overall art is good.

Recommended to fans of action, adventure and thrillers.
