The illustrations are fantastic, and sometimes spooky-- children being frozen, children stewing in a pot, children being "reduced to a powder". Activity pages that suggest that you leave a chunk of moist bread out on the counter for a week. I wanted to give my copy to my young cousin for her birthday one year, but her parents wouldn't let me. One of the best dimes I ever spent.
