E'S takes place in a dystopian future where people with psychic/super powers are persecuted by most of society. Every inch of it could be described by taking bits of summaries from the oodles of other stories like it. The main character is a kind souled psychic who clashes with the non-psychic humans who hate psychics and the psychics who hate non-psychics, he works for a seemingly noble organization which of course turns out to be evil and hiding things from him, and he will find out and not know what to do or who to believe. I imagine at some point later in this series someone is going to ask whose side he's on, and he will nobly reply that he is on his own side/the side of humanity/peace/love/puppies and flowers, etc.

Of course you can tell this manga will lack originality in the plot/concept department just reading a summary, but the execution is just as straight forward and unoriginal. The females are particularly grating, at least three of the four main ones all seeming to come from the 'peppy, innocent, and pure' mold, showing no signs of heading for future development and appearing to exist solely to be supportive of the males. If you'd have put them all in a room and tossed blankets over their heads, you'd not be able to tell the difference between them. Also, they'd probably never manage to find their way out.

On the other hand, if you haven't gotten as cynical as me and unoriginal but competent and average can still entertain you, the manga could be worth a try. It's got lots of action and moves along at a quick clip. Also, the paper stock is impressively thick.
