This was an odd book -- not because it deals with ghost stories, UFO and Bigfoot sightings, and death rituals, but because of the author's condescending tone and his strange habit of providing minute details when recounting one story but glossing over factual information for other stories. There are a few good stories sprinkled throughout, but it's a challenge to get to them. It just seemed like everything in the book was rushed: there were many typographical errors, and even the last chapter seemed tacked on, as it dealt not with any sort of mysticism or mystery but with the derivation of local names. There are very few sourced statements, but the bibliography for further reading is pretty good.… (mehr)
