Good story. I enjoyed the characters (primary & secondary) but editing to shorten the book by 100 pages would probably have helped. Unsure whether making the MCs POC was appropriate - curls, curves and fades mentioned alongside excessive mentions of blue/green and hazel eyes feels like checking off items on a diversity checklist.

My first read by Liz Tomforde. Sexy and good role model character I wish I was like! I liked the pace too although it did feel long by the end. Although by the end I also wanted to get the next book so I guess it works! The writing and situations felt very honest and believable. Although some of the characters were not.

Mile High is the first book in the Windy City series and introduces some of the characters that will be featured in future installments. At the beginning of this novel, Zanders is not likable at all, and it takes some perseverance to keep reading about him, but his character arc draws to a very satisfying conclusion. Stevie also has flaws such as not believing in herself, but her story also comes to a very constructive end. Overall, Mile High's only real issue is that it is just too long, but even that doesn't detract much from this enjoyable story.… (mehr)
