The concept of this book was really interesting. I've never gotten into dressing in vintage, but I love looking at the images of other decades to see how differently people dressed back in the day.

That might be why this book was less successful with me. I was looking for lots of images you could base a look on, but instead this was more like a photoshoot for her personal vintage collection (including some amazing images of her relatives from the period) with some history thrown in. I would have greatly appreciated more details on how to recreate a look, and pictures of details, as well as period photos to use for outfit creation.

My favorite parts were about the makeup and hair style recreation and history. I think there was a lot of great information here that would really help recreate a look from this period. But the failing was the fashion area. Just photos of her personal collection (which didn't see very impressive for this time period) just didn't cut it for me.

Definitely worth a read if you dress vintage or need some hints on a costume for an event, but I think there is probably a better source of information through Google.
