SOMEONE PLEASE TELL ME WHY I FOUND THIS IN THE YOUNG ADULT SECTION OF THE LIBRARY.
Ok, I get it. The book has a 15/16-year-old girl and a 17-year-old boy. That does not mean the book should be in the YA section though. This book is firmly new adult due to the excess of language, topics (very detailed physical abuse scenes/bullying), and talk amongst the guys.
Against all odds, this story pulled me right in though. It has been years since I have read a 600 page book in one sitting. Shannon went through so much, I just couldn't help but feel for her. It was about time that she had someone on her side. Also, I liked how she and Johnny developed a deep friendship over the course of a few months before they became a couple.

3 Stars [would have been higher without the language and locker room talk (for lack of a better phrase)]

May contain spoilers, fair warning upon reading this review

The second book which is also the conclusion to Johnny and Shannon's story. In this one it picks up right off of where Binding 13 ends. Now this conclusion was so heartbreaking at times. It really strikes a deep chord with you on a human level. We see the determination and commitment that our pair have together. There is even more forbidden feels in this book due to the circumstances. I just felt for these two and what they have to overcome. Shannon is having to deal with feeling even more trapped with her new situation but willing to sacrifice so much just to have some alone time with Johnny. Johnny really shows his true colors in what he is able to sacrifice for his girl in this one here. I just wanted so much to see these two find their way through their struggles. And really well the whole family of Shannon I just wanted to cry for. We also get some great laughs with the group of Johnny's friends. We also see the difference between Shannon's home to Johnny's home. The difference between loving supportive parents and parents that are only out for their own interests. I had so much love for Johnny and Shannon and their group. Seeing these two find their own way, that is different than what everyone else would have for them was so poignant at times in the strength of their relationship together.

I had a beautiful experience reading the beginning of the Boys of Tommen. Its a story of pain and sacrifice, but of healing and growth and fighting for the one that you love that concludes with such hope and promise. A TRUE GEM AND A TOP READ OF THE YEAR!

Quickie Review- (May contain spoilers, fair warning upon reading this review)

Binding 13 is the first book in the infamous “Boys of Tommen” series. This series I have literally been seeing everywhere and I decided to pick it up. I don’t really read YA as many of you know, but honestly these books have definitely changed my mind in being more open to this sub genre in romance. There was something so rich and vibrant in these books that truly packs a punch. Binding 13 is the first book in their story. Our characters are Johnny and Shannon. Johnny is 17 and Shannon is 15 when they first meet. Johnny is training to be a professional rugby player and is from a loving stable financially secure home. Then we have Shannon, who has suffered abuse and bullying most of her life. Her home situation is rough with an alcoholic abusive father and a neglective mother who enables the abuse and the siblings having to protect each other when they can. But on top of that, Shannon has been bullied at every single school she has been in. But when she has a fresh start at Tommen and meets Johnny, who is protective and caring, she comes into herself. But the relationship she has with Johnny is forbidden by her family.

I couldn’t get enough of Binding 13 and what we see happen within this story here. I was so hooked into the writing so easily, and if you love audiobooks then the narration is very well done. It takes place in Ireland (which isn’t common in contemporary) and their relationship is so heartfelt. Johnny is a character that is so in tune with Shannon and willing to do whatever it takes to protect her. There are many things that he just doesn’t understand but he just wants to look out for even knowing what could happen if they are caught together by anyone in her family. Shannon has never known such a protector outside of her own siblings, so to have a boy look out for in and connect with makes Shannon believe in something more.

I will warn you all that this book does end in a cliffhanger and I know these books are long, but I couldn’t get enough of it. The writing was so consumming and just instantly pulls you into the story. This is a story of a hero that comes off being misunderstood as a playboy but is so protective, and a heroine who is sweet and shy and a true survivor. Their romance is so endearing because we see what a deep connection they have together and the first book really focuses on establishing the foundation of their relationship in such a promising way.

An unbreakable bond born from heartache.

Johnny Kavangh is an injured rugby player recovering from a sports related injury. His world is turned upside down when his girlfriend, Shannon, is sent to the hospital after a domestic violence altercation with her father. Johnny is drawn into Shannon's world of fear, heartbreak and insecurity as his love deepens for her over time. Johnny's fight to remain with Shannon exposes him to detrimental effects of domestic violence as it extends to her brothers. Through Johnny's unyielding support for Shannon through her most painful times, she learns to live and embrace life.

Chloe Walsh's novel is a tear jerker and highly emotional read of teenage love. Chloe holds nothing back on domestic violence and it's physiological and psychological effects as experienced by Shannon. Shannon comes from a home of violence, fear and insecurity as her father is often drunk and violent. When she goes to Johnny's house, these things do not exist. Johnny must also decide his future as a rugby player and with Shannon.

I enjoyed this book tremendously although it does pull at your heart. The frustration and feelings of helplessness to take Shannon and her brothers out of that situation is felt by Johnny throughout the book. Although domestic violence is a difficult subject, Chloe writes a gripping novel. Readers will root for Johnny's and Shannons love to conquer all as they fight to stay together through tragedy and Johnny's career decision.

Way too long.
Over 800 pages - more than 15 hours.
And this is just #1 in the series!

This wasn't a bad read. I really think it could have been one book instead of needing a sequel which I have decided not to read. It needed editing but I could figure things out by adding or deleting words. I guess the author is from Europe as some of the sayings are unfamiliar to me (tie up buttons?). I didn't hate it or love it. If you like lots of angst and misunderstandings this is the book for you.

He is horrible to her. Poor girl. The story is good but it is too brief, not enough detail. It's sadhe says he loved her but when his brother reveals the truth and his wife's innocence he believes it but he never listened to a word she said and treated her really badly. She forgives him really quickly too, she should have made him work for it more.

I was so disappointed that this book was so short! It barely had any storyline and the premise happens in basically 4 days. I honestly would have rather waited another 2 months for a better, more complete version, because this felt thrown together and like they only released it because they felt like they needed to release SOMETHING. I love love love Noah and Teagan's story, and I loved Treacherous and can't wait for Inevitable (Hope and Jordan's story) but Thorn was hastily done and not nearly long enough. I would characterize this as a short story or novella, it is by no means a full second novel and as I said before, I wish Chloe Walsh had finished the story instead of leaving it like that. There's cliffhangers, and then there's novels that are just too short and don't even tell a story. I'm not saying don't read this because obviously I love the characters and the story and you need to read this is you want to see the full picture when Chloe Walsh comes out with a third novel about them, but lets just hope she's able to actually finish the storyline in that one, instead of leaving us disappointed and lacking.

The Word: a volitile relationship and a dangerous lifestyle never looked so good!
http://birdslovewords.com/review-treacherous-by-chloe-walsh/

The name for the book couldn’t more perfectly reflect the story. This was a dark, gritty story that highlights the dark shades of life and kept me on edge.

We follow Teagan a feisty Irish lass who follows her Uncle to the US for his career. Teagan doesn’t play by the rules, she pushes everyone’s buttons and is constantly stepping over the line. She struggles to fit in so decides not to. She catches the eye of bad boy Noah, her next door neighbour and therefore receives the wrath of Elle, Noah’s half-sister who believes Noah belongs to her.

The book reminded me a lot of Jay Crownover’s Better when he’s bad. Noah is not a nice boy – he isn’t even a typical bad guy – he is dangerous, edgy and oh so irresistible because if it. Being with Noah is like playing with fire, being in the warmth is glorious but if you stay for too long you’ll get burnt. Noah is trouble – he is in trouble with the law, and his lifestyle weighs heavily on his soul.

Tegan and Noah together are explosive and there is never a dull moment between the two. Noah loves fiercely and fast, and Teagan often doubts whether this is a good thing. Their lives are complicated and not easy, but somehow they find resolve with each other. It’s hard to tell whether they bring out the best or worst in each other – I guess it’s a little bit of both.

The book is full of deceit, intrigue and darkness. At times it can be confronting and it makes no apologies for doing so. The darkness makes the story that much more interesting. I was trying to download the second book before finishing this one and was disappointed to find it wasn’t out yet. The book ended in such a volatile explosive way I can’t wait to uncover what happens next.

Love you long time.

TRUTH OR FASHION, the second book in THE INTERNS series, picks up right where FASHIONISTAS left off.

Callie, everyone's favorite intern at Couture due to her new designs, is about to have her secret uncovered. Ava is hiding her own secret, one that could land her in major trouble. Nadine is working hard to figure out what it is, and Aynsley is busy...well, just being Aynsley.

TRUTH OR FASHION was definitely a step up from it's prequel. The characters were much more developed and the drama didn't entirely revolve around fashion. However, these are still what I consider guilty pleasures, mainly because of the excessive name-dropping and that fact that certain events are quite unrealistic.

But, despite that, I did enjoy it and recommend it to any fashion fanatics or anyone who just wants a quick, fun read.

FASHIONISTAS is the first book in a new series by Chloe Walsh.

Four very different girls come together at Couture magazine in New York City for a summer internship.

Aynsley is the spoiled rich girl, whose mom is friends with the Editor-in-Chief. Aynsley has to work at Couture or spend the summer in a remote Italian village. That thought alone makes a summer of unpaid work worth it.

Ava is a shy, invisible writer. Though she's hiding a secret none of the girls would ever expect. The night of the Cutting Edge Gala brings a new beginning for Ava.

Callie is a naïve creative designer from Ohio. Or is she? She comes to Couture with the hopes of getting recognition for her work.

And Nadine doesn't seem to fit in anywhere. She forms an immediate bond with Aynsley, but her partying attitude distances her from everyone at Couture.

THE INTERNS is not a new concept. The story has been told before, most recently in SUMMER INTERN by Carrie Karasyov and Jill Kargman. However, Ms. Walsh creates more depth and interpersonal conflict between her characters. All of the characters have secrets and desires that are not revealed to each other. The reader is left with wanting more after the final pages of the first book in the series.

For anyone intrigued with the inner workings of the fashion industry, FASHIONISTAS gives a raw inside look at the frantic pace of this world.. Designer names are used liberally and leaves the reader wishing they had a fashion closet the likes of Couture.

Stay tuned for THE INTERNS: TRUTH OR FASHION...
