*A Thank you to the publisher and author for allowing me to read this. This is my honest and unbiased reviews*

Hello Fellow Readers,

It's been awhile since a book had me hooked so quickly, from the first heart-tugging chapter to the last I couldn't stop turning, I almost wanted to ignore real life. Now, in Pulse we meet Dr. Bobby Jackson an amazing doctor who on the outside seems to have everything, but unfortunately there are cracks in the Doctor's personal life. With everything that has been going on in the world, this is a stark reminder that Doctor's are human.

Walters does an amazing job at keeping your attention, I never thought of having a medical drama interwoven with chess but Walter's does it pretty flawlessly. Described as Grey's anatomy meets Queen's Gambit, I also detected hints of M*A*S*H and ER, shows of which I am a big fan of. I am not as well versed in Chess or those shows so I can't make too many comparisons.

The main characters were pretty great, but I do hope in the next books Walter's goes into more characterization with the rest of the team. There was also one big event in the book which I feel didn't work and seemed a little out of place, I feel this could have been replaced with something else and have a more meaningful dramatic impact.

Overall, an amazing start to this medical series.

This book is the first in this trilogy. It is a great start to this trilogy. I can't wait to read the next two books. The incorporation of chess into this storyline is an intriguing plot twist. I was not sure how the chess was going to play into the storyline but once I saw how it was introduced; it made sense and works well.

There is actually no main character in my eyes. While, it may seem like Dr. Jackson is the main character; as he would tell you, it takes a team and the doctors and nurses are in it together. Thus a huge reason that I really loved this book. Everyone was so engaging and they felt like "real" people and not just characters in a book.

If you are into medical dramas, you will want to check out this book. Pulse had me so engaged that once I started reading, I was hooked. I finished this book in one afternoon.
