Local History of Quarry Bank and the Delph areas of the Black Country - an area near Dudley in the West Midlands, associated with mining and brick making - told through photographs and the memories of local families.
This is the fifth book from The Mount Pleasant Local History Group about Quarry Bank, so this volume only covers stories not previously told. On the plus side this has allowed the group to include The Delphi, a little recorded area adjacent to Quarry Bank which has almost completely disappeared under redevelopment.
While the prose is workmanlike and the subject perhaps only of marginal interest, even to locals, black and white photographs do have a special magic in and of themselves which can make you stop and wonder.… (mehr)
