The simplest and most direct of all printmaking processes is relief printing from wood, linoleum, and other inexpensive, easily cut materials from which block prints can be made. For this reason, the medium is ideally suited for young people and is increasingly popular in schools as a means of free expression and as an introduction to design in the graphic arts.
This book is a visual record of the diverse and stimulating ways in which woodcutting and other relief processes have been applied in an art school programme and a secondary school programme over a three months period.
