The only reason this doesn't get 5 stars is that it's a bit rough--needs editing and a little polishing. Excellent coverage of neoclassicism in DC (and Paris, which had a large influence on DC, as well). Takes a chronological approach and switches back and forth between Paris and DC, but the larger focus is definitely DC. Chapters end with useful notes and pictures, and there is a handy appendix on architects and sculptors who worked in the American classical tradition. This will be a handy resource on this topic for me for a long time.… (mehr)
