- Über meine Bibliothek
- I love all sorts of things, from SF, Fantasy, and Horror to classical literature and hot-to books.
- Über mich
- When I was in first grade, my teacher asked me who I wanted to be when I grow up. I told her I wanted to be a millionaire. I mean, I was seven; I didn’t give a damn about anything but having enough money to buy ice cream.
That’s not to say that I didn’t get fascinated with some professions. There was a time when I wanted to be a ballerina, and I even went to dancing school. Between spending entirely too much time being sick and not being what you’d call “dancing material,” it didn’t work out.
My next fascination was writing. It started in middle school with handwritten chapters of a horrific crime thriller that hopefully got thrown out or burned. The world isn’t ready to see that atrocity.
A few years went by and I started thinking about grownup professions. The ones that could make me real money. I decided to become a shrink.
I had a plan: Nursing school first, med school second. I’d have better chances of entering and staying in med school if I already was in the field. Besides, nurses make decent money.
I almost did it too. One more semester and I would’ve had a respectable career.
The day I had to register for the next semester was a torture. I stood in line, hating the idea of going back to the hospital, changing dressings, giving meds, watching blood run through the machines. I just couldn’t do it. I quit.
So, here I am, writing away, killing vampire unicorns, sending bad luck to water spirits, and many other detestable things. - Ort
