Bud, Not Buddy.... Ten year old Bud runs away from his abusive adopted family during the Depression. He is on his own, trying to find who he thinks is his father. He has a a tough time searching, but finally finds the man. This is a great story. I would recommend it to more mature teens, generally middle school, because of the hard times and descriptions of the horrors of the Depression. von Christopher Paul Curtis

Diary of a Wimpy Kid, Book 1..... It is time for Greg to start middle school. He manages to pull through, despite his older evil brother. Greg goes through middle school in a tough way. He describes many of his challenges; some are quite funny. I would recommend this book to middle school students with a lower reading level. Or, I would recommend this book to a 4th-6th grade student. It is a fairly easy book to read, and could be entertaining for almost anyone. von Jeff Kinney

Stargirl (Readers Circle)... Leo is a High School student at Mica High School. A new girl, stargirl, comes to the school and shows how she is compassionate, eccentric and individual. Leo is the only student who finds her interesting and accepts her for who she is. I would recommend this book to mainly teenage girls. Particularly to girls who I believe would relate to stargirl; individual, eccentric. von Jerry Spinelli

The BFG...One night, young Sophie could not sleep. Down the street, she saw a giant glowing something. She was scooped out of her window by a giant! He is the world's only benevelant giant, the BFG (Big Friendly Giant). Sophie and the Giany become friends and encounter many great adventures together. I would recommend this book to kids ranging from 3rd-7th grade. It is about friendship, it is funny, and it requires an imaginative reader. von Roald Dahl
