Here's an opportunity to share those nuggets of book shop lore & recommend your favourite bookshops. 3 suggestions from me:
Morecambe- pier bookshop on the prom just north of the clock tower.
Bradford- Waterstones- the stock is the usual but a fantastic setting
Stratford-U-Avon- don't know the street name but it is very near the outside street market.

Guildford, Surrey: the Oxfam Book Shop on the High Street.
Godalming, Surrey: The Mind charity book shop off the High Street.
Llanllothlen, Wales: a HUGE bookshop with more than a hundred thousand used books.
And, of course, Haye-on-Wye: Acres of Books.
Annual Oxfam Book Sales, such as the one in Blackheath, SE London, are gold mines, although you need to get there early (there will be a queue at least half an hour before starting time), and be ruthless.
