Hi All. I am seeking information. And photographs of distinguished libraries in South Africa.... Looking for info about the history of the library, the architect, date built, location, specialization if any, why special, key librarians. Etc. I'd like to get together an online article and see how it develops but could evolve into something more. all info supplied will be acknowledged. I thank you for any assistance.

The former head of Rhodes University Library, Mr Gerald Quinn, would be able to help you with this, I'm sure. He taught me librarianship and was a wealth of information about libraries and librarians in South Africa. Professor Musker as well, no doubt - if either of those venerable gentlemen are still alive...

Thank you. I am sure much of ground work must have been done by librarians . I shall also speak to Clare Walker, deputy Librarian at Wits. you are setting me thinking .

Not sure if you're still looking... Mary Nassimbeni and Peter Underwood at the University of Cape Town School of Librarianship are passionate about the field.
