Books that draw us in

Do you think there are books that INTJs would be more drawn to than other personality types? Or less drawn to?

For example, I remember reading The Fountainhead when when I was a teenager and really liking it. I've since come to my senses, but I think it really appealled to that thinking and judging part of my personality.

And as genres go I am drawn to things that make me think (classics, science fiction, autobiographies) and very repulsed by romance novels and really popular stuff like Nora Roberts.

Anybody feel similarly? Or have a different theory?

Certain types of books capture my imagination in a "mastermind" way. I'm thinking of visions of alternative utopias of like Ernest Callenbach's Ecotopia and Katherine Forrest's Daughters of a Coral Dawn. Even if I don't agree with some of the authors' conclusions, I love to consider the day-to-day implications of living in societies that are structured in different ways. Reading social history makes me happy for that reason too.

I have to say, though, that I also like to read just to be entertained --- there's nothing like curling up with a mystery on a rainy day.

Well, the list of shared books for this group certainly doesn't make me any wiser...

#3. The shared books, as well as common groups, revealed to me a variety of interests in subjects like religion/spirituality/mysticism, social sciences particularly psychology, and natural sciences. Most are non-fiction. I would imagine that lots of us have quite a few interests that we study up on and then move to something else.
