I guess so. Someone yelling at me would have just had the opposite effect but he got her to at least listen to him and agree to be hypnotized.

yes - he's tried other approaches to no avail. Why not try something she might relate to better?

As he was putting it forward - it's all about figuring out the right approach for a particular person. It seems to have worked.

It worked with her, but I think different people require different methods.

I think he had tried every other strategy and that's all he had left. Could have backfired but does seem to have worked.
