The night Joshua was killed he asked Chris who Chris would help if both one of his family and one of his friends was in trouble at the same time. Does this give us any clue what was going on and what led to his death?

It seems like Uncle Josh was going to the lawyer in order to change his will in order to leave some money to his blood relatives too. The person who murdered him may not have wanted Uncle Josh to change his will.

I assumed he was going to divide his fortune in some way.

I thought the same: Joshua intended changing his will to leave some (half?) to his family instead of it all going to the Lanyons.
TBH, I don't exactly see this as a motive for murder - Michael would still be in line for half of millions... I don't see him being that greedy for all of it.

I agree with, Nicky: I don't think his father was responsible for Joshua's death.

I also have to agree.

It did seem to indicate he was in some kind of turmoil, trying to decide what he should do with his money. Friend or relative, an interesting quandary. I'm still not sure I see his murder being linked to his will.

I do think there was more going on than simply the inheritance issue. Maybe it was someone from Joshua's past that he wanted to help...Pedro, maybe?

That question does not really make sense if the matter is only about the inheritance. There's enough there for everybody it seems.
