Should the police have picked up on the connections with the murders of the prostitutes? Why didn't they?

Sparks is a jerk, as we already know. He just wants to rush to judgement against Marco being the killer and Marsh will be happy because it will make the parents happy that a killer has been caught.

They probably didn't want Andrea linked with prostitutes, given the pressure they're getting from Simon...

They don't seem to be very concerned about any search for the killer. They definitely don't want Andrea tied to other murders, especially prostitutes. It doesn't fit the story they are promoting.

they were too busy staying within the storyline that Andrea was a good girl and that wouldn't have connected her to murders of prostitutes

They want a quick and easy solution--one that keeps Andrea's reputation intact to appease the parents.

You are all correct in your assessments. You said it, Sergei...Sparks is a jerk. I will probably come up with stronger adjectives before the story ends:)

Surely somebody should have joined the dots. Did the prostitute murders not even get put on to the HOLMES computer, surely if they had the computer would have made some links.
