I should introduce myself. I am a teacher at a university in Louisiana. This is my first time doing this particular challenge, but I do my library's 100 book challenge every year. I have completed it twice (last year, through, I didn't go in for the certificate or prizes--I can do without those and just enjoy the challenge).

I try to read a wide variety of types of books, but this summer I am feeling less enthusiastic about reading. Maybe I need to try out something in a different genre.

I tend to read mysteries and science fiction, though I do read the occasional non-fiction book and best-seller. I find that I just don't like most of what shows up on the best seller lists as important books. Right now I am on a Donna Leon kick. In these turbulent times, I am finding them somewhat comforting. No clue why--it's just true.

Welcome from another reader with Louisiana roots! I've been gone for a long time, but graduated from ULM back when it was NLU, have family all over central and north Louisiana.

You've got some great stuff on your list. I just finished Binti a week ago and loved it, Davis Grann's a favorite of mine, Montress was pretty popular here on the group a year or so ago, just to call out a few. I'm also in a comfort read mode - so you're in good company. 😀

Sorry I didn't reply to you, drneutron. I got caught up in other things. Did you get to the other Binti books? I also enjoyed the Murderbot books. I'm looking forward to the Murderbot novel to be published in the coming months.

Thank you thornton! I think I should read more widely. I try to do the BookRiot challenge now and then.
