There was a thread a while back on detective fiction, especially those from the "Golden Age" of that genre in England, so I wanted to share this find.
I've been looking for this book for ages and orders for a fairly recent edition kept coming back with "delayed indefinitely" responses. Recently I was surprised to discover the entire book is available as a free pdf from Google books:

The book is The Man Who Knew (touchstones not working), Edgar Wallace's take on a Sherlock Holmes-like figure who seems to know all and see all.
Not to be confused with the excellent Frontline documentary "The Man Who Knew" about the prescient FBI expert who was killed in the WTC attack.
Nor to be confused with the excellent film(s) by Hitchcock "The Man Who Knew Too Much."
Nor still with G.K. Chesterton's anti-Semitic tosh The Man Who Knew Too Much.
Edited to clean up URL.

There are so many crime books called `The Man Who...`.
Maybe we should make a list - I`ll contribute The Man Who Killed Me by Arthur Maclean aka George Paul Mann.

For those interested I put up a review of the Edgar Wallace book on my profile page. I'm not the world's greatest reviewer but I did my best.

thanks yareader2- but i'm so impressed by the other reviewers on the site. i much admire the pithiness of many of them while still giving a good idea about what the book is like and the ability to sum up the basic plot without giving too much away. i kinda just zoomed in on one specific aspect of it- not sure how helpful that is to someone who wants a good overview of what to expect.

Funnily enough, I got an e-mail the other day from Guy Lawley, who runs a Jack Trevor Story fan site, concerning a book credited to W Howard Baker, but now believed to have been co-written by JTS. The title ? the Man Who Knew Too Much.
