Dewey using F AUT (first 3 letters of author's last name)

Our community library would like the call number to be F for fiction and then first 3 letters of the author's last name. Without changing every call number in our collection, is there a way to have it automatically use this format?

I'm afraid we don't have a way to automate your call numbers this way. We do support importing of custom call numbers but you've already cataloged your library, so you'll need to edit them retroactively. Sorry for the inconvenience!

For adding books in future, find a source that does it that way, and use them instead of Amazon.
