M. O. Skarsten George Drouillard Hunter and Interpreter for Lewis and Clark and Fur Trader, 1807-1810. 356 pp. Glendale: Arthur H. Clark Co., 1964. Western Frontiersman Series, No. XI. Reprinted by Clark in 2003 and Bison Books (pbk) in 2005.

Good biography of this interesting mètis adventurer and frontiersman. The son of a French-Canadian father and a Shawnee woman, he was born in Windsor, Ontario, ca. 1774. After his time with the Lewis and Clark expedition, he worked for Manuel Lisa's Missouri Fur Company. He died in the Three Forks region of Montana Territory in 1810, the victim of either a Blackfeet or Crow war party.

Give it a go.
