So I have a collection in my tinycat and searching that collection, despite all the books being assigned genres, there is a 'No Genre' filter which has numerous entries. Not sure why.
If I use that 'no genre' filter and select any of the books that are returned and click on 'edit entry' the entry does indeed have Genres assigned so I'm not sure why the 'No Genre' filter picks up books that have Genres assigned.

Can you let me know some examples of books that have genres but are getting into the "No Genre" filter? I can check things on my end.

The 'No Genre' filter is looking for the work's genre information as >4 gilroy: refers to. This is in the right-hand sidebar of a work page, see the topic Introducing GenreThing for some more detail about that feature.
From your library I can see you have added tags for genres onto your books, tags are a separate concept and not related to what this filter is showing.
Eg. your book: https://www.librarything.com/work/book/246900039
You currently have the tags: romance, angels
But the work page for it: https://www.librarything.com/work/30781530/
The genre section is currently: No genres
If you want to, you, or anyone, could edit that No genres into Fiction & Literature, and Romance, and that would make it drop out of your 'No Genre' filter.
Hope that helps.

>5 Nevov: I'm confused because if I click on the second link above (for Eight Second Angel) to the work, it has two genres selected: Romance, and Fiction and Literature.
Thats why I started the thread. I had books with assigned Genres, but got picked up by No Genre in TinyCat.

>6 quasar: Because the Genre feature is a CK like item where anyone can edit it, it's possible someone removed those genres.

That's interesting to see. I wonder if this means it takes the server a bit of time to update the genre for every user because I don't get the same as your screenshot, that one still shows as no genre to me when I go to its work page. I'd guess that means the TinyCat filter is also running off the cached genre information.

Or could it be it requires a certain number of owners to select that genre, before it shows up on the work level?
(Edit: or not necessarily owners, since anyone can set it like in >7 gilroy:.)

>5 Nevov: >7 gilroy: Close, but not quite.
You can edit your own genres on LibraryThing so that they show up on your book pages. quasar has done that, and I do still see them on their book pages noted at >3 quasar:. That said, book-level genres—while they are taken into some account for work-level genres—may not change the work-level genres that show up on LT. And, I know that TinyCat is only including work-level genres.
quasar, you may want to add your own genres as Tags, for now, so they can be visible and searchable in your TinyCat catalog (including as a Search Facet on Search Pages). I hope this helps!
