I wouldn’t expect the app to get its own OCR implementation but more recent versions of iOS have it built into the Camera app—if there’s text visible in the preview, it’s highlighted and a button appears that lets me treat it like text. Does the camera API in iOS expose this in a meaningful way, such that OCR input could be an option when scanning in new titles? It’d sure come in handy for pre-barcode printings, cases where the barcode is something other than the ISBN but the ISBN itself is printed right next to it, or even just scanning the cover or spine titles to use as text input for the search.

When I tried to find books on Saturday using the scanner and entering an ISBN number, it wasn't possible. I only received error messages.
I only got results by searching for author or title.
It's been like this for me for months.

There was a new version (1.2.4) released a couple of days ago to fix scanner-related issues, probably worth checking to see if yours was resolved. (I've had the occasional crash related to barcode scanning but have added hundreds of books via ISBN scan over the past month or two, so it wasn't a universal issue.)
